Internships and Work Abroad

1. Visit the WORK ABROAD OFFICE in the Division of Professional Practice

 

Their goal: The Georgia Tech Work Abroad Program is an immersive academic program designed to complement a student's formal education with paid practical international work experience directly related to the student's major. The Work Abroad Program includes co-op, internship, graduate, and undergraduate work experiences. These international work assignments are designed to provide the ultimate work experience to include practical training, cross-cultural exposure and learning, and acquisition of the skills that will set apart the participating students from their peers. Opportunities are available during summer, fall, and spring semesters.

 

Location: Suite 112 in the A. French Building (across from Juniors) on campus

 

What they offer: Assistance with the work/visa permits, health insurance, pre-departure and cross-cultural orientations, sessions on safety abroad, and overall assessments.

2. Visit CAREER SERVICES on Campus



Their goal: They are dedicated professionals committed to promoting the mission of Georgia Tech by providing remarkable experiences for students, employers, faculty and staff. Their mission is to encourage students to realize their career dreams by
• assisting them with developing self knowledge,
• obtaining educational and occupational information,
• selecting personally suitable academic programs and experiential opportunities,
• developing effective job search skills, and ultimately
• attaining their employment and/or graduate school goals.

Location: 2nd floor of the Bill Moore Student Success Center, located between the football stadium and the Tech Tower

 

What they offer: Career counseling, Annual Georgia Tech Majors Fair, externships, internships, career seminars, career focus, resume/interviewing/job search assistance, practice interviews, career library, and campus recruiting

3. Student Organizations

 

-AIESEC - GT Chapter

Who they are: entirely student-run, non-profit organization with university chapters around the world. AIESEC provides meaningful paid internships in 103 countries in business, economics, international affairs, and engineering disciplines, as well as language teaching and developmental work. AIESEC is the world's largest student-run exchange organization. The overall aim is to promote international and cultural understanding through the student work
exchange program and to develop leadership for the future generation.

- IAESTE - GT Chapter

Who they are: IAESTE is an international network that coordinates on-the-job training for students in most engineering fields and some science fields in approximately 40 countries each year. To participate in IAESTE you must be a junior or higher, enrolled full-time at an accredited US college or university and between the ages of 19-30. An IAESTE traineeship is a paid internship abroad. Positions are available in most areas. Most placements are from 8-12 weeks during the summer.
