Leadership - Entrepreneurship - Innovation
In the Spring of 2008, the Innovate Conference will travel to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Singapore. This is great opportunity to observe countries at very different points in their economic, political, scientific, and engineering development. Twelve students have been selected for this trip out of twenty-five applicants. Once again, Georgia Tech had more applicants than any other university.
Rice University and IAESTE United States are the lead organizations in the multi-university consortium attending the conference that, in addition to Tech, involved seventy students and advisors from the University of Tulsa, the University of Pittsburgh, North Carolina State University, IAESTE US, National University of Singapore, IAESTE China, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Keio University, Indian Institute of Technology, and IAESTE India.
"The world is experiencing the need for global leaders, and this Conference provides a great opportunity for training in this area."
-Ting Cheng, Industrial Design
In March of 2007, Georgia Tech participated for the first time in the Innovate Conference in which the students had the opportunity to learn about China and India as centers for entrepreneurship and innovation, as drivers for technological innovation, and the ethical obligations of globalization and technology. Student delegates spent two weeks visiting Beijing and Bangalore in order to meet with key business, academic, and government leaders and conducted professional site visits to companies like Infosys, Motorola and General Electric.
